Project Description
FLORAL PAINTINGS COLLECTION
Garden Party
This piece is an imaginative garden created entirely out of Teyjah’s head, but also perhaps inspired after her fall into a wild rose bush. This experience may have brought her sense of humour out on to the canvas. She recalls how she was attacked by the bush and describes her plight visually through this piece. “It is a funny, dark painting depicting flowers plotting against man.”
This is one of Teyjah’s first florals with the use of watercolour washes and imprinting with actual leaves. She also used a charcoal base with water thrown over top of the watercolour paper. There are colour lifts, colour runs, watercolour gradations and drybush techniques. It is an experimental piece using multiple techniques.
