The Maze
This piece, the artist proclaimed, ‘had everything thrown in it’ creating a cauldron effect. Working into the painting a second layer of colour, before the first was dry, created different reactions and subsequent textures and layers. “When it’s not fully cured, the second layer doesn’t dry at the same rate, and results in this interesting line work. I call it “reticulation” and now use it as a technique — I now know how it works and can predict it.”
