The Mittens
This was Teyjah’s first piece working with pastels. The artist’s reminiscence of the shadow play that occurs when the sun sets in Monument Valley, Utah was the inspiration behind this colourful piece.” I captured this by first painting the sky, leaving negative space to create the buttes and spires. Then I simply added strokes of pastel colours to refine the shapes. “I love the colour gradation and the roughness of the paper in this piece.”
