ABSTRACT PAINTINGS
Vein Of Gold
Teyjah was in testing mode and wanted to find out what the oil- based alkyds would do on a textured surface. She learned that it gave her some very interesting formations. She found that wherever the paints pooled while drying, indentations were formed and it created different ripples and marks when the layers came into contact with each other. This piece was named based on a job Teyjah had as young girl. As a talented ‘colourist’ she was hired to colour in a geologist’s map of mine shafts to show the degree of gold and other minerals in each one. “This painting reminded me of that job experience where I had to exert varying depth and weightiness to my pencil lines to indicate these ‘Veins of Gold’.
